1. They First Appeared In An Issue Of Spider-Man
Like many comic book characters, Cloak and Dagger didn't start out with a titular series. Their first appearance on the page was in Issue 64 of Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man in 1982, an ideal context since they're about the same age as the web slinger.
2. Their Real Names Are Tandy And Tyrone
Before becoming the superhero duo, Cloak and Dagger were two teenagers on the run: Tyrone "Ty" Johnson (Cloak) and Tandy Bowen (Dagger).
3. They're Buddies With Doctor Strange
The news of Cloak and Dagger's show coincides nicely with the release of Doctor Strange's solo movie, considering they've worked together in the comics. They helped the Sorcerer fight Dormmamu, and the collaboration went as far as the release of a group series titled Strange Tales. But the teens have actually teamed up with more than one famous superhero — which is why it was about time they got their own show!
4. They Were On Cap's Side During Civil War
Though they haven't appeared in the #MCU, Cloak and Dagger were indeed involved in the big superhero split that led to the Civil War, deciding to side with Cap and his refusal of the Superhuman Registration Act. Would you expect anything else from two runaways?
5. They Refused To Join The X-Men
Later during their comic book history, Cloak and Dagger were established as mutants, and were offered to join the X-Men school. Although they frequently got involved with other superheroes, they preferred to keep their vigilante status.
6. Dagger Was Blind For A While
When the Cloak and Dagger series was on its own again at the end of Strange Tales, Dagger was blind in the first few issues, which forced her to work on her fighting skills.
7. They've Met Thanos
The two were present in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, during which they died in their fight against Thanos — Dagger first when Thanos killed half the universe and Cloak later on when he teamed up with Adam Warlock. Because these are comic books, however, they later came back to life.
8. Dagger And Black Widow Are BFFs
During the Marvel Knights storyline, Dagger was left alone after Cloak was overpowered by the dark dimension that provides his powers. That's when she met Black Widow, and the two fought together and became friends. Natasha helped Tandy find Tyrone and bring him back, and the two stayed at Black Widow's apartment for a little while. If that's not one more reason we need a Black Widow movie!
