Yesterday we received the brain-numbingly major news that four Marvel superheros would be getting their own Netflix shows. The shows, which will seemingly be released in a staggered schedule, will see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage cross paths while they fight evil in Hell's Kitchen, New York City.

Now, although this is incredible news to most, it might also have disappointed some fans who hoped to see big screen iterations of these characters. Well, I've got some good news for you (OK, maybe 'good news' is a bit hyperbolic, but I've certainly got news), Jay Rasulo, Senior Executive VP and CFO of The Walt Disney Company explained that if the series are successful, it could pave a way for more movies. He said:

Marvel has thousands of characters... and it is not possible to mine them all with filmed entertainment. While these characters are attractive characters they are not among the most popular... it's not likely we would have made feature films about them... though if they are popular on Netflix, they could become feature films.

Of course, Daredevil already got his big screen debut in 2003 — and we all know how that went...
