Mary Poppins is packing her magical carpet bag and getting ready to soar back into our lives. Mary Poppins Returns will be flying onto the big screen on December 25, 2018, starring Emily Blunt as the iconic nanny herself and Hamilton genius Lin-Manuel Miranda co-starring as a new character, Jack the lamplighter.

A sequel to the 1964 original starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, this new movie will pick up with Mary and the Banks family, only now Jane and Michael are grown, and Michael is raising a family of his own. According to the press release, the film will be set in Depression-era London, and based on the original books by P.L. Travers.
Marc Shaiman will be composing the music for Mary Poppins Returns, and it sounds like rehearsals are going well already:
