If you're worried that Santa won't make it to your house on Christmas Eve in 2019, never fear because #MargieClaus is here. Melissa McCarthy will be starring as the titular character in the upcoming movie musical, which will be directed by her husband Ben Falcone, with the power couple co-producing it. Falcone will also cowrite the script, along with Damon Jones, the co-creator of the USA series Benched.
New Line Cinema picked up the holiday flick, which will focus on Margie's attempt to save Christmas. According to The Hollywood Reporter:
[T]he story is set in motion when Santa Claus goes missing while delivering presents on Christmas Eve. His sweet wife Margie Claus must then put together an unlikely rescue team and set off from the North Pole for the first time in decades to rescue Santa and save Christmas.
Since starring in all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls, McCarthy has gone on to become one of the most popular comediennes in Hollywood, starring in the likes of Bridesmaids, Identity Thief, Tammy and the Ghostbusters reboot. She will next be seen in 2018's Life Of The Party, and Margie Claus will mark the actress's musical debut.
