Who would win in a fight between Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees?
That's a question horror fans have been asking for decades. The outcome to a similar battle between two titans of terror was answered a few years ago (sort of) when we watched the killer of Camp Crystal Lake take on the Springwood Slasher in Freddy Vs Jason.
However, the next bloody battle between two of the biggest bogymen in cinematic history that legions of fans want to see is Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees.
But who would be declared the reigning champion of after the blood splatter settles and only one slasher remains? Can such a question even be answered?
To crack this case once and for all, let's take a look at the evidence and crown our king.
From crushing heads to ripping hearts out, Jason has strength most can't compete with. Physically, he may just be one of the strongest horror villain ever.
In his battle with Freddy, strength is what brought him out of it alive. So we know he'd be relying heavily on muscle, even more so with Michael Myers.
Other great examples of his strength include:
- Squeezing somebody's head until their eyes popped out.
- Twisting another guys head 360 degrees.
- Knocking another mans head completely off.
Similar to Jason, Michael Myers is one of the stronger horror villains out there and he's proved that over the years by accomplishing feats no ordinary person can.
We haven't seen him use his strength against somebody as powerful as himself. Yet, when he's at odds with everyday men he can mangle them in whichever way he chooses.
Examples of his strength include:
- Lifting a car.
- Shoving his thumb into a mans skull.
- Impaling someone with a shotgun.
- Forcing another persons head through iron bars.
It depends on which of version of Michael or Jason we're talking about. For example, in the original two Halloween films, Myers is definitely stronger than Jason from Friday The 13th part two. However, in Friday The 13th parts three, and four, Jason is about tied in strength with Michael. Moreover, when we get to Friday The 13th parts seven and eight, Voorhees is definitely stronger than Michael Myers from Halloween's seven and eight. And it flips again in their remakes.
Overall, I think more versions of Jason top Michael Myers. Here's a side by side comparison of their strength in each sequel. Keep in mind, this was made after analyzing each movie, and watching for who was able to show greater feats.
- (Stronger) Michael Myers / Halloween 1 vs Jason Voorhees / Friday The 13th part 2
- (Tied) Michael Myers / Halloween 2 vs Jason Voorhees / Friday The 13th part 3
- (Tied) Michael Myers / Halloween 4 vs Jason Voorhees / Friday The 13th part 4
- (Stronger) Michael Myers / Halloween 5 vs Jason Voorhees / Friday The 13th part 6
- Michael Myers / Halloween 6 vs Jason Voorhees / Friday The 13th part 7 (Stronger)
- Michael Myers / Halloween 7 vs Jason Voorhees / Friday The 13th part 8 (Stronger)
- Michael Myers / Halloween 8 vs Jason Voorhees / Friday The 13th part 9 (Stronger)
- Michael Myers / Halloween Remakes vs Jason Voorhees / Freddy vs Jason (Stronger)
- (Stronger) Michael Myers / Remakes vs Jason Voorhees / Remake
Michael Myers is stronger than Jason in three movies. Tied with Jason in two, and loses to Jason in four. So you can see they're almost tied in strength, but Jason is shown as being stronger than Michael overall.
In every fight speed plays an important part. So it's time to figure out which titan of terror would have the upper hand.
In almost every Halloween movie, Michael Myers never attempts to go any faster than a steady pace, which obviously seems to work for him since his victims rarely get away.
Like Jason, teleportation seems to be hinted at as well. Since people often see him through their windows, only for him to disappear right in front of their eyes.
As far as quickness goes, he can be very speedy. In many of his films, he's been able to kill multiple people in an incredibly rapid succession.
Jason is a little different from Michael Myers as far as speed and quickness are concerned. Jason raised himself in and around the woods with the animals and other dangers all around him. Because of his environment, Jason became a very quick, lean, mean, killing machine. It wasn't until he died, and kept dying, that he become the slow, zombie-like entity we know today.
Michael Myers has gotten faster, and is very quick when he wants to be, but Jason is naturally speedy most of the time. He can move around quickly, and has even ran in four of his movies.
How much can both take and shrug off? Quite a bit, but there's a clear winner here too.
Everyone knows Jason is near invincible. You can burn him, shoot him, hang him, stab him, throw toxic waste on his face, or even drop him from space, and he always finds a way to come back. That's not to say he can't die, because he does in most Friday The 13th films.
Similar to Jason, Michael Myers has been through ordeals none of us would ever survive. They've attempted the same tactics on Michael, as they have with Jason. Such as hangings, shootings, stabbings, burning, beatings, and everything else.
Moreover, the real difference between their levels of durability lies in death. Michael hasn't died in a single one of his films. And the reason why is a mystery some sequels and re-imaginings have tried explaining, but they all missed the point.
It doesn't require explanation.
Jason is almost impossible to kill, and comes back stronger in each movie. However, Michael Myers doesn't come back at all, since he never dies in his films.
How do their weekenesses affect Michael and Jason?
What weakness does Michael Myers have? I guess one could say it's Dr. Loomis, or another could say it's his slowness. But even those two reasons don't actually stop Michael. Being completely honest, I think it's safe to say that Myers has a real weakness. He isn't afraid of anything, and there's no way to manipulate him. If someone were to ask, ''how do we stop him?'', you wouldn't be able to give a real answer.
On the other hand, Jason has one weakness, and it isn't water. His real weakness is manipulation. Often times he'll be disillusioned into thinking that he sees his mother, when it's really his intended victim, or enemy. From there, they can do anything to him. Until he realizes he's being manipulated, of course.
Jason has one too many weaknesses, unfortunately. If he's tricked into thinking Michael Myers is Ms. Voorhees somehow, this battle is as good as finished.
How smart each of these competitors are will also affect the fight. Who's smarter?
Often times, Michael Myers isn't thought of as a particularly smart guy. Which couldn't be farther from the truth. Unlike other slasher villains, Michael Myers thinks out his situations, and acts accordingly. Take for instance, his ability to infiltrate any house or building he wants, without getting caught. Two perfect examples, are in Halloween four and five. The first is when he crept into the sheriffs house, and hid there while everybody (including his intended victim), were completely oblivious to his presence. In Halloween 5, Michael managed to trick the whole police force into leaving his house, and go investigate another situation. Leaving the front door wide open for him to walk into.
Jason was very clever in his earlier movies, but in different ways than Michael. Before he turned into an undead, killing machine, he was living off of the land, teaching himself the vital skills needed to survive. With that being said, he would definitely have the upper hand if this fight took place in his territory. The most common, and well known version of Jason, isn't nearly as smart. They turned him into a brute who charges into every situation head first. No questions asked!
In his earlier days, Jason was a product of the land he raised himself on. However, that part of his character has been chipped away dramatically. Michael Myers on the other hand, is a thinker. He knows how to assess each situation thoroughly, and act accordingly.
Winner: Michael Myers
Which slasher has the better arsenal?
Jason and his machete, are like syrup and pancakes, they belong together. However, Jason is handy enough to use whatever happens to be around. Throughout the whole franchise, he's used ice picks, hacksaws, sleeping bags, pitchforks, axes, bear traps, and so much more.
Michael Myers' signature weapon is a simple kitchen knife. Which could be good or bad in his case. It just depends on the size of his knife. Besides that , he's not afraid to get down and dirty. He'll use an axe, impale you with a shotgun, force your head through iron bars, and much more. He even killed someone with his bare thumb; something even Jason hasn't done.
Michael Myers is creative for sure, his hands are a deadly weapon just like Jason's are. He can also work with whatever happens to be around. Nevertheless, going into this fight, Jason is more than likely gonna have a machete, and Michael is more than likely going to have a knife. Unfortunately for Michael Myers, a machete has more reach.
Who's The Winner?
Let's compare them overall one last time.
Jason: He has a lot going for him in this battle. An advantage in strength, which will help him in inflict more damage. He's generally faster, due to his survival skills and has a primary weapon that puts a kitchen knife to shame.
Michael: On the other hand, Michael could outsmart Jason quite easily. And due to his advantage in durability, he'll figure out a way to beat Jason eventually. He also has no weaknesses, unlike Jason.
The Winner is...
In this showdown, Jason would cause a lot of heavy damage. Due to his weapon advantage and strength, he could break all types of bones, and mark up Michael quite a bit. However, he wouldn't be able to chop off a limb or anything of that nature. Considering Myers is very strong as well, and is more more than able to put up with Jason's brute strength and force.
After a series of good hits from both Jason and Michael, I think Myers would eventually think of a way to overcome the situation, and defeat Jason. We've seen time, and time again, that Jason succumbs to his lack of thinking. While Michael is the exact opposite. He always finds a way to overcome his situation. And that's exactly what would happen here.
