Over this 4th of July weekend, as The Walking Dead fans know, AMC is unleashing the Daryl with a zombie-stomping marathon of Seasons 1-3 to catch new viewers up on what has gone down the past few seasons for our ragtag group of survivors.
Geek extraordinaire has been hosting the marathon, as well as offering sneak peeks at Season 4 and interviewing the cast. One of those interviews featured , who plays the mysterious, katana-wielding Michonne on the show. Smith asked Gurira what fans might expect of her cult favorite character in Season 4. As it turns out, a few more layers will be revealed:
Michonne, as we saw, she is getting more and more connected to the group, and I think you'll see more of that, and the complexities in the community, and those sorts of things.
Smith then made a comparison between Michonne and another cult favorite from the Star Wars universe (because, again, geek extraordinaire):
You're like the Boba Fett of The Walking Dead. Everyone just loves you. They have no idea about your back story yet. It's coming in drips and drabs, but they're still like, 'We want more! We want more!'
Now, that kind of seems like a bit of a stretch to me, but alright. This isn't the first time Smith has tried to make that connection, either, previously having said that, "Daryl is like the Han Solo of the show, man. He's all attitude. He's smooth. He's crisp."
What do you think? If you were doing a Star Wars/Walking Dead mash-up, what characters would you compare to each other? Have fun with it, and let me know in the comments.
