The Teen Choice Awards was a great night of entertainment that celebrated some of the world's best films, TV shows and music. While The CW dominated the TV awards, and the summer superheroes dominated the film awards, there was one individual who was set to steal the show in the music category.
Miley Cyrus was scheduled to attend the awards ceremony in order to receive the Ultimate Choice Award. However, she pulled out of the appearance last minute, with host Victoria Justice making the announcement within minutes of the show's beginning.
Fans of the "Malibu" singer were understandably upset as they wanted to see the beloved artist crowned Ultimate Choice on #TV. But Miley would later take to Instagram to reveal why she wasn't able to attend the #TeenChoiceAwards. Check out the post below:
In the caption, the songstress thanked fans for crowning her their Ultimate Choice and revealed that she wasn't able to attend the event due to the "unrealistic schedule" she had created for herself. She commented:
To my dearest fans...I want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart for presenting me with [The Ultimate Choice Award]! I am beyond bummed I couldn't make it to the show as I had every intention of being there to accept and celebrate this honor! I created an unrealistic schedule for myself which leads me to this announcement!
Cyrus softened the blow by excitedly revealing that her latest single and music video "Younger Now" will be dropping this Friday. While it's unfortunate that she couldn't make it to the #TeenChoiceAwards, I have no doubt that this announcement has made her fans incredibly happy.
#MileyCyrus' cancellation of her Teen Choice Awards appearance isn't the first time a singer has had to pull out of an event due to their schedules. Being a world famous celebrity ensures that you're always in demand, and sometimes you have to cancel appearances because, well, you can't be in two places at once.
Last year, former One Direction star Zayn was due to perform on British talk show The Graham Norton Show, but pulled out just a few days beforehand. While fans were upset, the artist's rep revealed that it was down to "scheduling conflicts" as the singer was recording his album at the time. Ryan Reynolds, who was appearing on the same episode, sent out a hilarious tweet after the announcement was made.
Moreover, not even the almighty #LadyGaga was exempt from scheduling issues as she had to postpone the first date of her the intimate Bud Light Dive Bar Tour. She was supposed to kick things off in Las Vegas, but had to delay due to rehearsing for her Joanne World Tour.
Miley may not have been able to attend the Teen Choice Awards but she's not the only one who has faced scheduling conflicts in her career. It just goes to show you that no matter how multi-talented your favorite entertainers are indeed only human, and they can't always keep up with their crazy schedules.
