If you were a kid growing up in the '80s or '90s, you were gifted with a wide variety of cartoons to enjoy over your breakfast, especially if you loved high-octane action.
From G.I. Joe to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, kids back then were spoiled for choice. But there were two TV shows of the '80s and '90s that towered head and shoulders above the rest; one that was a cartoon, and one that just acted like a cartoon. Despite their differences, both these shows had a few things in common — namely, colorful suits and giant fighting robots!
First launching in 1984, Voltron: Defender of the Universe was a cartoon about five young astronauts who pilot five robot lions. When joined together, the robot lions become a giant robot named Voltron, the protector of the universe.
Hitting TV screens in 1993, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a live-action series about five young adults who become color-coded mighty morphing martial arts experts, known as the Power Rangers. If you were a kid at any point from the '90s on, you would sure know who they are.
For years, these two pop culture staples have been the subject of "who wore it better?" competitions, with fans debating who would win in a fashion showdown. Now, we finally have that battle, in the form of an extremely epic fan-made video from the gang over at Ismahawk.
Ismahawk is the team behind Nightwing: The Series, an amazing fan miniseries centered around the life of vigilante and former Batman sidekick Nightwing. After completing Season 1 of the series, Ismahawk started work on another show called Minute Match-Ups, in which two geek culture icons face off in a no-holds-barred death match.
Characters like Hawkeye and Green Arrow, and Deadpool and... that weird X-Men Origins Deadpool (you know the one) have shown up to fight in the series. And now Ismahawk has taken up its biggest challenge yet: Voltron vs. the Power Rangers!
Meet The Teams — First Up? Voltron
Before you watch the video (or if you want to, you can skip to the bottom of this article to watch it right away), let's check out the groups featured in Power Rangers vs. Voltron, starting with Team Voltron.
These guys are the defenders of the universe, joining their respective lion bots together to form Voltron. The team consists of Keith (Yoshi Sudarso of YouTube channel Apartment210), Hunk (Greg Miller of Kinda Funny), Lance (Niko Pueringer of Corridor Digital), Allura (Justine Ezarik of iJustine), and Pidge (Anthony Carboni).
The opposing team are the Power Rangers; the colorful spandex-clad gang shown in Minute Match-Ups is the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers lineup.
For those unfamiliar with the Power Rangers (seriously, what did you do as a kid?!), these guys use their extreme skills in martial arts and powered-up Ranger suits to fight the forces of evil. When they're really in trouble (pretty much every single episode), they'll join together and pilot the Megazord, a Voltron-esque giant robot.
This team consists of the Red Ranger Jason (Danny Shepherd of Ismahawk), Black Ranger Zack (Austin Creed of UpUpDownDown), Yellow Ranger Trini (Mari Takahashi of Smosh Games), Blue Ranger Billy (Tim Gettys of Kinda Funny), and Pink Ranger, Kimberly (Tana Mongeau).

The combatants are chosen, and then the battle begins. Voltron Force and the Power Rangers face off to finally settle one of the biggest fan debates ever (you know, besides the never ending Goku vs. Superman argument)!
The video is chock-full of awesome Easter Eggs for both Voltron and Power Rangers fans, as well an insane assault that's sure to get any geek excited. But enough talking about it — check out the video below, and make sure to stay 'til the end for links to discussions about the battle itself and the eventual winner.
With the Power Rangers reboot coming out next year, and Voltron: Legendary Defender having a successful first season on Netflix, Ismahawk's timing couldn't be better. If you enjoyed this video, make sure to check out more of Minute Match-Ups and other awesome videos on Ismahawk's channel.
