Auli’i Cravalho is the incredible talent behind the voice of the title character in Moana, landing her first role with Disney at just 16. She stole the world’s hearts with her portrayal of lovable yet independent #Moana, who has become a role model for women of all ages. It was obvious that Cravalho would be snapped up quickly, with her natural talent and new reputation.
It is reported that she will be starring in Drama High, NBC’s new show in an hour-long pilot episode.
What Do We Know About 'Drama High' So Far?
#DramaHigh is based on Michael Sokolove’s book of the same name and tells a real-life story of a high school drama teacher and his students.
Jason Katims, who was the producer and showrunner of Parenthood and Friday Night Lights, and Jeffrey Seller, who is a producer of Hamilton, will be bringing us the new series. We can hope that the influence of a musical producer will create a contemporary approach to a typical high school drama club story. Seller worked on Hamilton with Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the soundtrack for Moana.
It therefore seems likely that Drama High will showcase Auli’i Cravalho's singing talent as well as her acting. This brings me (and hopefully you too) great hope for the series.
