For being based on a true story, and as a potential Oscar vehicle for , buzz about the upcoming thriller Captain Phillips has been relatively low-key, with the last bit of news to drop being the first trailer release three months ago.

If this is the first you're hearing about the -helmed drama, it tells the story of the real-life hijacking of the MV Maersk Alabama (that's a cargo ship, y'all) in 2009 by Somali pirates. It was the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in 200 years, and became the stuff of legend (or at least a Wikipedia article).

The slow and steady drip continues, however, with the first posters for the film being released by Columbia Pictures. The first features the Somali pirates boarding the ship, and the next features a Hanks as Captain Phillips staring at a machine gun and realizing his situation has gotten exponentially worse.

I feel like I really missed my window of opportunity to make a joke here about Tom Hanks in another survival movie, but I can't be fussed to work out the details, so get on that in the comments, you guys.

Captain Phillips struggles to survive (or just hits theaters) on October 11th.
