I have always had a rule for myself when it comes to seeing a movie in the theater or not. For me, it almost solely depends on how the #trailer for the movie makes me feel. Sometimes, like many of us, we know from the moment we see the teaser trailer if we will be first in line at the theater or if we are waiting for it to arrive on Blu-ray or Netflix months later. What is it about certain teaser trailers that almost guarantee we will be in line with our ticket opening night? As a movie fan, I could go on forever, but here are just a few of my favorites.
Let's just get the obvious one out of the way:
6. 'Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens' (2015)
When 2015 completely broke the internet with the teaser trailer for #TheForceAwakens, I pretty much knew that nothing else in my life would feel as important until I witnessed that film. Even now, this teaser for The Force Awakens gives me goosebumps, despite the fact that I have seen the movie a million times. Episode VII was a culmination of nostalgia, music and familiar sound effects that pulled me back in to a place, I never thought I would be again — the world of Star Wars.
5. 'Man Of Steel' (2013)
I've always been a Superman fan, so pretty much any trailer for a #Superman film is probably going to get my spirits heightened. But something about this one really got to me. The trailer promised a whole new take on the Man of Steel — a promised to showcase a more-down-to-Earth hero, flawed and lost, beard and all. This trailed showed that Director Zack Snyder planned to give us a Superman who wasn't perfect. New direction is always a refreshing trait to me.
4. 'Spider-Man 2' (2004)
Had to toss a throw back in the mix. Tobey Maguire so far has been my favorite #SpiderMan. This trailer brought some fantastical elements right from the onset. When the car came through the window unexpectedly, I was sold. Then you throw in the flash scenes building up to Danny Elfman's theme music, and I'm not sure how you could go wrong. I can assure you I was there, opening day, ready to see Spidey and Doc Octavius go toe to toe.
3. 'The Dark Knight' (2008)
I don't know that much needs to be said about this one. #TheDarkKnight showcased one of simplest teasers ever, yet brought more hype than you can imagine for this film. The instant I heard Heath Ledger's voice as the Joker, I knew there was no turning back on this one.
2. 'Power Rangers' (2017)
Of course I couldn't leave out the current Power Rangers reboot teaser trailer. No one knew what to expect on this one. I definitely was feeling a little skeptical about what we were going to get from a rebooted Power Rangers. I was still excited either way. Then this trailer was dropped on us and bam! Everything changed. My excitement has grown ten-fold for this film. I love the direction of this film; everything from the new suit design to the cast has me super pumped for this film.
1. 'Avengers' (2012)
Last but not least, I couldn't have been more excited to see a film than I was after seeing the trailer for #TheAvengers. Seeing the team on screen, great music and knowing Hollywood was about to bring Earth's mightiest heroes together was enough to make me stand in line for over two hours, twice, just to see this film.
What are some teaser trailers that got you pumped for a film? Let me know in the comments.
