The fourth generation of the My Little Pony franchise created a whole new audience for the animated equines who were originally based on the '80s Hasbro toys. After catching on in a big way all over again, the world is ready for these lovable characters to hit the the big screen and a movie adaptation of our favorite rainbow horses is set to arrive in cinemas on October 6 2017.

The upcoming movie will be the first feature length ponies movie in over thirty years. In light of this, I truly cannot wait to let this technicolor spectacle whizz me straight back to my childhood, when I played with my ponies in the back garden. Watch the scene from the award winning TV series below to fill you with that warm fuzzy feelings the Mane 6 create:

The cast of the movie is slowly being put together and I can tell you now it's looking awesome, so let's have a look at who shall be voicing these magical creatures.

Who's Voicing Who In The My Little Pony Movie?

1. Emily Blunt

  • What you've seen her/heard in: The Devil Wears Prada, Into The Woods, The Huntsman: Winter's War, The Adjustment Bureau, Looper and The Girl On The Train.

Emily's role in the movie is still under wraps. All we know is that a brand new character is being added to the ponyverse for Blunt to voice. The British actress has had some voice acting experience after lending her talents to Gnomeo and Juliet and The Wind Rises, so we have no doubt she'll be a natural.

2. Liev Schreiber

  • What you've seen/heard him in: Defiance, X Men Origins, Scream, The Manchurian Candidate, The Last Days Of Mars and Spotlight.

Just like Emily, Liev will lend his voice a whole new character. Schreiber has done his fair share of animation voice work though including Chicago 10 and Finding Babel. Admittedly these are both adult animation, but we feel his talent will lend himself nicely to the magical franchise.

3. Kristen Chenoweth

  • What you've seen/heard her in: Stranger Than Fiction, Four Christmases, You Again, Bewitched and Pushing Daisies.

The Broadway legend is lending her famous voice to the colorful new film. Her role has been created especially for her and the actress quipped that the only reason she was cast is because they wanted someone "life-size" as Chenoweth stands at a tiny 4"11ft.

4. Taye Diggs

  • What you've seen him/heard in: Will & Grace, Rent, Equilibrium, Chicago and House On Haunted Hill.

My Little Pony is really treating us this time around with yet another Broadway legend. Taye will be serving up his smooth voice to one of the new characters. Let's just hope Diggs and Chenoweth get a song together because it would be fire.

5. Uzo Aduba

  • What you've seen/heard her in: Orange Is The New Black, Tallulah, The Wiz Live, Showing Roots, Steven Universe and Alvin And The Chipmunks.

Uzo has an array of talents, from voiceover work in The Chipmunks to musical singing in The Wiz. This also means that My Little Pony will have two Glinda's within it's cast, both Aduba and Chenoweth played her on stage. Let's hope Uzo is more good witch than Crazy Eyes for the upcoming movie, though. Think of the children.

6. Sia

  • What you've seen/heard her in: Piccadilly Jim, Annie, The Great Gatsby and Transparent

The pop-star is taking on the role of Songbird Serenade and we can see from her cool look that the pony pays homage to Sia's wig and eclectic style. Sia has performed on many soundtracks, but this will be the first time she'll lend her distinctive voice to an animated movie and we cannot wait. Let's hope Songbird has us swinging from the chandeliers.

7. Tara Strong

  • What you've seen/heard her in: DC Super Hero Girls, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Rick & Morty and Robot Chicken.

There is no other person out there who is capable of voicing Princess Twilight Sparkle other than Tara Strong. The incredibly talented and experienced voice actress will return to the show for the highly anticipated movie. Watch the Princess's magical coronation below:

Looking back at this wonderful cast, my excitement for the movie has grown even more. The project looks like its going to be an amazing treat for all the family to see. However, with over a year to go, the Bronies and Pegasisters will have to wait patiently for the cinematic release.
