You may have seen 1975 Australian classic Picnic at Hanging Rock, or you may not have done. It's a bizarrely ethereal horror about a group of girls who go missing during a school picnic, and it's one of the most beautiful films ever made.
Don't just take my word for it though, check out the trailer.

The legendary movie is widely adored, and nowhere more so than in its native Australia. So much so, in fact, that Aussie channel Foxtel Showcase is filming a reboot of the story in the form of a six-part miniseries. Cast featuring in the new Picnic at Hanging Rock include Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer, who will lead the picnic group as Headmistress Appleyard.
Lily Sullivan (Camp's Marina Barker) will take the lead student role as Miranda Reid, one of the schoolgirls who disappears.
Orange is the New Black's Yael Stone is another familiar face on board, playing Bible studies mistress Dora Lumley in Foxtel's adaptation. Bet you didn't even know she was Australian!
The new Picnic at Hanging Rock airs on Foxtel Showcase in 2017.
Should any movie be exempt from remakes?
