#GuardiansOfTheGalaxy2 was a massive success critically and financially, plus it was just an absolute blast to watch. It brought back our favorite characters from the first GOTG movie while introducing some fresh and new characters into the mix. However, one new character the movie who got cut from the final product was Simon Williams, a.k.a. Wonder Man, to be played by actor Nathan Fillion.
Fans believed that the fan-favorite Marvel character would appear based on set photos that featured Fillion on various posters, but director James Gunn clarified that Fillion was never set to appear in the film; his posters were a fun Easter Egg. The good news is that James Gunn has released all of the posters onto his Facebook page for us to enjoy:
The first poster, titled "Toxic Janitor 2," references the indie film The Toxic Avenger from the 1980s. (Personally, I think that it would have been a lot funnier if they had inserted a "toxic" Captain America onto the poster, but it's still funny!)
Next, we see Fillion starring in what appears to be a romantic comedy titled Oh, Rebecca!
Dead Before Arrival references mind-twisting action/science-fiction movies such as Inception, and Haxan 2 parodies the 2014 Daniel Radcliffe film Horns.
Up next is the Arkon poster, which references the movie Conan the Barbarian. Believe it or not, Arkon is an actual Marvel Comics character who is very similar to Conan. Given that, let's just say the poster is double Easter Egg.
Last but certainly not least is my favorite poster, for a Tony Stark movie parodying Steve Jobs. Sometimes we forget that Stark is not just a superhero but a huge innovator in the Marvel Universe, similar to Jobs and Bill Gates in our world. And the Guardians of the Galaxy will meet him when Avengers: Infinity War opens on May 4, 2018 — perhaps with Fillion showing up too?
