Director has always been famously tight-lipped when it comes to revealing information about his projects while they're still in production. It's no surprise that the upcoming Elysium is still mostly under wraps, aside from the official trailers and a few stills.

So, we were happy when The Province confirmed that yes, Blomkamp is indeed working on his long-planned third feature film, Chappie. His wife and usual collaborator, , penned the script, which will be a sci-fi comedy (Blomkamp? Doing comedy? Interesting). Shooting is set to begin in Johannesburg, where his breakout hit District 9 was filmed, but much like with his first two movies, the entirety of the post-production and visual effects will be completed in Vancouver by Image Engine with editing handled by post-production whiz .

Other than that, not much is known about Blomkamp's film. Still, it's nice to know things are moving forward as planned, and that after the August 9th release of Elysium, sci-fi fans won't have to wait too much longer for the next Blomkamp project to start filming.

What do you think? Can Blomkamp and Tatchell pull off a sci-fi comedy? Let us know in the comments.
