Patrick Warburton looks none too thrilled to be making his debut as the woebegone writer Lemony Snicket in the very first teaser trailer for Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Snicket roams around an empty studio, lamenting the fact that Netflix has decided to take on these disastrous tales in the first place. An empty chair marked "C. Olaf" is tucked casually in the background, while an ominous laugh suggests that the vile villain isn't so far away after all.

At the very end of the clip, we get the good news — or bad news, depending how you look at it — that we've all been waiting for: Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events will finally reach Netflix on January 13.

Of course, we've seen one unauthorized albeit suspiciously good trailer before. YouTuber Eleanora Poe (the username is an Easter Egg referencing the editor of the Daily Punctillio). Her trailer doesn't give us any information at all, but it sure seems real! Watch it now:
