Kaze Tachinu or The Wind Rises, is the first anime movie directed by since 2008's Ponyo, and the promotional push for this flick is just starting to pick up.

So, here you go! We've got our hands on a few shots of the new movie, from the Japanese Spirited Away director:

If you're not familiar with The Wind Rises yet, then here's the synopsis:

Based on the manga of the same name about Jiro Horikoshi, who designed the famous Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane. The fighter was extensively used by Japan during World War II, and Miyazaki's interest in flight is well-documented, making this project seem like a natural choice for the director.

First impressions look good, but then again, Miyazaki always deliver high quality work in my eyes. My favorite is still Howl's Moving Castle - loved the ending, loved the setting, loved the characters. Just gotta hope that The Wind Rises ends up Stateside no later than 2015...

Does this float your manga boat?
