While Suicide Squad received backlash for its inaccurate portrayal of #HarleyQuinn and #TheJoker, the Capped Crusader's upcoming Lego adventure could give us an interpretation that fans will love. The LEGO Batman Movie will arrive in theaters next month and lots of clips have been released to whet our appetite.
The film's latest TV spot shows Harley and Joker in a different light and it looks like this interpretation of the clown prince and princess of crime are best friends rather than a couple in a romantic relationship.

So Harley and Joker will be friends instead of a romantic couple? I can live with that. The footage above also provides an initial glimpse of Harley's dialogue, voiced by Jenny Slate. (Did you notice #Batman using her mallet towards the end of the video?)
Lots of fans are predicting that this animated portrayal of the Queen of Gotham will be better than her cinematic debut with Task Force X.
Whether we're viewing a comic, cartoon or live-action feature, the future representations of her character are vastly important. She is more than just the Joker's girlfriend, and people need to see it.
Yes, this movie is made to be fun and essentially, it's aimed at children. So with that being said, I don't want to read too much into it. But if Harley is finally displayed in a positive light, I undoubtedly support that.
The LEGO Batman Movie hits theaters on February 10.
