When we first saw as Nick Fury in Iron Man, he was the promise of a bigger and more exciting world. For close to ten years, he's been the linchpin that ties together a big chunk of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, his absence has certainly been felt since his last appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

We know he won't be in hiding for long, as he'll be popping up in . But recently, he revealed a possible appearance in 2019's Captain Marvel. We Got This Covered had the chance to talk to the legendary actor during promotion for . During the interview, he stated he was interested in doing a Nick Fury solo film:

"Yeah, I’d love to do a Nick Fury movie. I’m always open and game."

However, he stressed that Marvel was too busy at the moment with Avengers: Infinity War to focus on his character. And that's when he dropped the bombshell:

"But they got Infinity Wars, two movies to do there, and after that there’s Brie [Larson’s] movie Captain Marvel, which maybe [Nick] will be part of. "

The possibility of his appearance brings a lot of promise for Captain Marvel. Fury could bring a lot to the film in terms of alien knowledge. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. revealed he knows about the Kree's existence, and seeing how Carol Danvers got her powers from the Kree, maybe Nick's role in the movie is very important.

Plus, let's not forget about how it could quickly tie it to the rest of the . When Iron Man was released in 2008, we didn't have a clue as to how far Marvel wanted to go with its cinematic universe. Nick Fury's appearance gave us a notion of just how big that world was.

Right now, we have no idea of what to expect from in terms of story. Yes, we have a few guesses but nothing is concrete. Yet, knowing that Nick Fury could appear - even if it's for a few seconds - gives us a very promising scenario: Carol Danvers could be integrated into the rest of the MCU quicker than we thought, similar to what Thor did for Doctor Strange at the end of his film.

So, with the chance of him appearing in Captain Marvel, could we see the iconic eye patch in another hero's movie? Well, Jackson only revealed that he would not be in 2018's , and he explained why in a way only he could do it:

"I asked them, “So you’re doing Black Panther and the only black character in the Marvel Universe is not showing up?” And they’re like, 'Nick Fury is not in Wakanda!' How can he not know the other black superhero on the planet? How the hell does that work? But they just said, 'No you’re not in that one.'

I have to say, while it's a bummer we won't see Nick Fury appear in Black Panther, it makes sense. Considering the alienating nature of Wakanda, it's only natural they wouldn't be kind to outsiders (especially one representing the biggest spy organization in the world).

On the other hand, in Iron Man 2, a S.H.I.E.L.D. map that has Wakanda marked highlighted is shown, so Fury has certainly been keeping tabs on the advanced country. We'll have to wait to see if something changes. But for now, we know that Nick might be making an appearance in Captain Marvel. Hopefully, we get more details as March 8, 2019 gets closer.
