For fans of borderline-insane acting and possibly completely insane actors, you're in luck. The Wrap is reporting that is in talks to star in 's dramedy Lost Melody. The indie flick will be produced by .

If cast, the frenetic actor would play a man trapped in a loveless marriage with a controlling and shrewish wife. He falls in love with a prostitute as a means of escaping.

Zwigoff, who co-wrote the script with Melissa Axelrod, is known for his quirky and eclectic works, such as Bad Santa, Ghost World, and Art School Confidential. He also almost never makes films, having just 5 directing credits to his name since 1985. Regardless, Pressman seems excited to be working with Zwigoff, as he stated in the announcement:

When considering a project, I think it most important that the director and the film live in the same universe and Terry certainly achieves this with 'Lost Melody'. I've always wanted to work with Terry and am excited to be teaming on a wonderful darkly-funny drama in the tradition of such classics as 'The Blue Angel' and 'Sunset Boulevard'.

A dark dramedy? The out-there Cage working with the even more eccentric Zwigoff? A prostitute somehow being involved? We can only assume it's just a matter of time before Nic Cage completely loses his shit in this film:
