In a surprising development, one of the leading stars of our time, #NicoleKidman (The Others, Cold Mountain, Lion) has come out to support #DonaldTrump's presidency and is encouraging America to get behind him.
Born in Hawaii but raised in Australia, Nicole has never been one to generally air her political feelings either for her U.S. or her Aussie homes, but in a recent interview with the BBC she's broken with her tradition of political silence.
Nicole Kidman's State Voted Overwhelmingly For Trump
Maintaining three homes with her husband, country singer Keith Urban, in Sydney, L.A. and Nashville with their two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, Kidman has a very broad sense of home, although recently stating in an interview on the Hollywood Reporter's 'Awards Chatter' podcast that she now very much felt like a woman of America's South down in Nashville Tennessee.
With Tennessee voting for Trump in a huge landslide, giving him 61.1% of the vote over Hilary, it is clear that most of Kidman and Urban's neighbors were more than likely Trump supporters. Whether this influenced their votes however remains to be seen.

"We As A Country Need To Support Whoever’s The President"
Speaking to BBC 2's Victoria Derbyshire, Kidman made it clear that which ever way America's citizens decided to vote what's important now is basically, to get on with it:
“I just say, [Trump’s] now elected, and we as a country need to support whoever’s the president because that’s what the country’s based on.”
Diplomatically deciding to back democracy rather than to outrightly back either of America's two leading political parties, Kidman clearly stated that America needs to get behind Trump now, regardless of how individual U.S. citizens feel about him - something which Meryl Streep clearly does not agree with.
Kidman Is Now At Odds With Co-Star, Meryl Streep
In the aftermath of the 2017 Golden Globes, there was clearly one moment that stood out from the rest: Meryl Streep's damning criticism of Donald Trump. With Meryl highlighting Trump's apparent intolerance of 'foreigners' and his brazen imitation of a disabled reporter in his election campaign, she made her thoughts on the PEOTUS clearly made — to which Donald Trump duly responded stating she was one of the most 'overrated actresses in Hollywood.'
Given that Nicole Kidman co-starred with Meryl Streep in The Hours, a movie in which Kidman actually went on to win an academy award for, Meryl's speech is exactly the kind of behavior Kidman is criticizing, saying that instead of chastising Trump, we now need to support him.
"I'm Very, Very Committed To Women's Issues"
Following up her comments that America needs to get behind Trump regardless of the way they voted, Kidman finished up by stating:
“I’m always reticent to start commenting politically, I’ve never done it in terms of America or Australia. I’m issue based. I’m very, very committed to women’s issues.”
Considering however that the PEOTUS bragged that he "grabbed a woman by the p*ssy," has a history of rating his Apprentice reality TV stars by their looks and stated that would date his daughter if he could, Trump does not exactly paint himself as a champion of women's issues. Whether this influences Kidman's deeper feelings about Trump however will remain hidden as she rallies to support him while she champions the voice of democracy.
