When Night of the Living Dead gnawed its way through the cultural sphere in 1968, it propelled into horror legend. Could the new Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D have the same sort of impact on the modern zombie scene?

The unconventional project will star Bollywood leading man R. Madhavan alongside Candyman , , and .

The zombie genre has enjoyed mad popularity recently, with AMC's The Walking Dead dominating TV ratings and 's World War Z earning him the top box office takings of his career. There will be horror purists who will snigger at the idea of a Night of the Living Dead remake, especially one that dares to use such flashy modern baubles as CGI technology and stereoscopic 3D, but at least this new reboot looks set to take a different direction to the classic original.

The reboot will feature an adapted storyline, seeing our heroes attempt to barricade themselves into a New York apartment block when the flesh-eating hordes descend.
Night of the Living Dead 3D will be directed by Zebediah de Soto and produced by Simon West, who commented on the project:

This movie represents a whole new way of visualizing the classic zombie genre. It has a fresh and exciting style that sets it apart from all other horror films seen up until now.

I'm pretty stoked for this reboot and hope that it gets the budget and care it deserves. 's Dawn of the Dead was a very respectable effort, and the die-hard gorehound in me was pleasantly surprised by the recent Evil Dead reimagining. And if it all gets too much, just remember the wise words from the original movie:

If you have a gun, shoot 'em in the head. That's a sure way to kill 'em. If you don't, get yourself a club or a torch. Beat 'em or burn 'em. They go up pretty easy.
