True fans of The Vampire Diaries are finally going to be getting what they've been waiting for. Nina Dobrev will be returning to The CW's drama for the finale after moving on to greener pastures following a solid six seasons on the show.

For a while now, there's been much speculation on whether the actress would be reprising her role as Elena Gilbert as Season 8 comes to a close. However, up until now, there's been no official statement from the showrunners regarding her re-emergence.

Now though, it seems that N-Dobz has taken it upon herself to announce the explosive news, posting a pic of her new script, sending the hysterical vamp fandom into overdrive over the fact that yes, it's really happening!

Following the big reveal, the executive producer on the show — Julie Plec — also spoke to Variety about Dobrev's greatly anticipated return:

“I’m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended — with Nina back to help us say goodbye."

The last time we saw Nina on the show was at the end of Season 6, when she floated off into a deep sleep only to be awakened if her best friend Bonnie — played by Kat Graham — died. Very unfortunate, as I'm sure you'll agree.

Yet with Nina Dobrev's return now confirmed, we can only wait and see whether this tragedy realizes itself. In the meantime, watch this beautiful cast tribute to one of the most beloved shows on The CW ahead of its final run this spring:

The Vampire Diaries finale will air on March 10 on The CW.
