Few films have created as much of a love/hate relationship with audiences as 2012's Prometheus. It was, well, it was a head-scratcher to say the least. Full of promise, it left many viewers going, "Wait...wtf did I just watch?" Still, it was something of a hit, so plans have greenlit to forge ahead with a sequel.
The Playlist from Indiewire caught up with Prometheus star as she did press rounds for her latest, Dead Man Down, and asked about the latest developments for Prometheus 2, and she revealed they are working on a story:
They're working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It's just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will.
She also spoke a bit about her experiences with the first film, and what she'd like to see in a sequel:
I love working with Ridley. It was pure joy. It was really hard work sometimes. My body was a complete mess – I had bruises and cuts and emotionally I was a bit slammed. But being in his world and his universe was such an amazing experience...And it's interesting because people, most people I've talked to who see the movie, see things that are quite different. Some people who see the movie many times and discover new things. There are all these religious aspects and there are very interesting conversations. And for me, if we do a second one, there are a lot of things to explore in there and to continue. I would love to do it.
Original screenwriter is not onboard for the next film, but Rapace was keeping her lips sealed regarding who the studio had hired to replace him. As Lindelof was the one who took it from being a straightforward prequel to the mindbending mess that it was, I'd argue him being replaced isn't necessarily a bad thing.
