Over the years, it has gotten so bad that any news or announcement released on April 1st is regarded as an April Fools joke right off the bat.
We have good reason for doubting media outlets on April 1st, because we’ve been burned too many times. #AdultSwim recognized the public's incredulous nature on April Fools day, and used it to pull off one of the greatest April Fools pranks of all time – and Rick And Morty fans lost their minds.
Adult Swim Airs 'Rick And Morty' Season 3 Premiere On April Fools Day
After a day of fake news regarding George Takei running for office or Zac Efron being cast as Venom, people weren’t paying too much attention to breaking news on Twitter. When the official Rick and Morty Twitter account tweeted that they were airing the long-awaited season 3 premiere, everyone thought it was just another April Fools joke.

We soon learned that the joke was on us, and Adult Swim was airing the Rick and Morty Season 3 premiere on TV and streaming it live on AdultSwim.Com. The episode ran on a loop from 8AM to 12AM, and it was certainly worth the wait!
The premiere showed us how Rick gets out of prison, and what his seasonal arc will be for Season 3 (hint: It involves a certain limited edition chicken nugget dipping sauce). The episode was everything fans wanted it to be, and they took to Twitter to share their excitement.
Twitter Reacts To 'Rick And Morty' Unannounced Season 3 Premiere
It’s rare for a TV show or movie to surprise us nowadays, and thanks to the internet, we usually know every TV show and movie release date months in advance. The fact that Adult Swim surprised everyone with the Rick and Morty Season 3 premiere is impressive, and it also left fans elated:
Adult Swim’s April Fools joke should be named, “The WTF heard around the world”, because people could not believe it. Fans were arguing on Facebook and Twitter about the premiere announcement being a hoax, but when the dust settled and the truth came out, everyone was more than excited that Rick and Morty Season 3 was airing:

Once fans got over their general excitement about the surprise announcement, they flocked to their computers and TVs to watch the 4-hour loop of awesomeness that was the Rick and Morty Season 3 premiere. The episode blew fans away, and several people watched the episode again and again:
Fans will be riding the endorphin high from the Rick and Morty Season 3 premiere for a while, and also have them searching the world for the secret recipe to McDonald’s limited edition Mulan Szechuan dipping sauce. Unfortunately, we must wait until this summer for the rest of Season 3, but this premiere will certainly hold us over until then.
