Back in August, fans were elated when news broke that Disney was allegedly moving forward with an Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone film. Although Disney and Lucasfilm have still not officially confirmed the project, the hype around it is building — and Star Wars fans are dying to learn more about the character’s journey leading up to A New Hope.

Based on the established canon, we know was on Tatooine watching over Luke Skywalker, but a large portion of that time is a mystery. On Star Wars Rebels, fans finally got to see the feud between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan come to an end on Tatooine, and as cathartic as it was, it was only one piece of a very large puzzle.

The alleged Obi-Wan standalone would likely fill in the rest of his story, while also helping link the prequels to the original trilogy. Recently, Sideshow Collectibles gave fans even more reasons to be excited when they premiered an Obi-Wan figure that could be our best look at what the character may look like in his own standalone film.

The new 1:6 scale Mythos Obi-Wan Kenobi statue from Sideshow Collectibles is stunning and (like all of Sideshow’s products) incredibly detailed. The figure looks to be influenced by Sir Alec Guinness’s version of the character rather than Ewan McGregor’s; however, based on his age, we can surmise that this is a snapshot of Obi-Wan before A New Hope.

Obi-Wan is sporting his Jedi robes from the prequel era, but given the terrain on Tatooine, it’s surprising they have held together so well. He is also wielding his patented blue lightsaber and a nice pair of goggles, which is a very practical item to have on a desert planet.

On his back, Kenobi is sporting a pack of some kind — which fits into his “hermit” persona nicely — but he is also carrying various weapons and tools. On top of all his necessities, Obi-Wan also has one of his Jedi shoulder coverings he sported during the Clone Wars series, as well as two lightsabers hanging down from the bottom.

The various pics from all angles of the figure show that Obi-Wan’s equipment is detachable and the figure can be positioned into various poses. Once you look past how impressive the figure is, it becomes clear that this is exactly what Obi-Wan Kenobi would look like if his standalone film took place during his years in isolation after the events from Revenge of the Sith.

In Star Wars Rebels, we saw how much Obi-Wan matured during his time on Tatooine as a Jedi — especially since he cut down Darth Maul in seconds — but fans want to know how he became the person we saw in A New Hope. Hopefully, an Obi-Wan Kenobi film will fill in the gaps of time and give fans the story they have been waiting to see for decades.
