Now we've finally seen our first look at the Transformers: Age of Extinction trailer, it seems the embargo on releasing images of Transformers merchandise has also gone the way of the dinosaurs.
We've already seen several leaked Transformers 4 merchandise images, but now we've got some actual publicity pictures from Amazon's newly launched Transformers Headquarters Shop. The first toy, Autobot leader Optimus Prime, has just gone on sale — probably in order to take advantage of all that Super Bowl trailer buzz. Check out the images and product description below:
Highlights 1. The first Optimus Prime figure from Transformers: Age of Extinction 2. Optimus Prime wields the mighty Sword of Judgment 3. Block Decepticon attacks with the Sentinel Shield 4. Converts from robot to truck and back again 5. This First Edition Optimus Prime figure stands 10 inches tall.
So far, the action figure is priced at $59.99, which is rather steep if you ask me, especially considering the reviews its received haven't been especially glowing.
At the time of writing, the Transformers 4 Optimus Prime action figure only garners a score of 1 and a half stars. But, y'know, this is Amazon, its reviewers aren't exactly known for their impartiality.
So far this is the only Transformers: Age of Extinction toy we've seen, but it might be worth noting this figure is number 14 in a line of "Thrilling 30" action figures to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the franchise. In that sense, I think we can expect a lot more Transformers 4 figures in the future. For example, do you think we'll see one of Optimus Prime riding Grimlock? That was certainly the overriding image from the Super Bowl trailer. Check out the GIF below to see what I mean:
What do you think? Has this merchandise made you optimistic for Transformers: Age of Extinction, or do you agree with the one star reviews?
