It seems practically every movie ever is now receiving it's own TV spin-off. Seriously, the list just keeps getting longer and longer. One of the most bizarre spin-offs on that list is Paramount's Ghost TV series. Yep, that's right. It's a TV series based on the 1990 movie Ghost, that weird-sexual-pottery-love-fest starring and .
We've known about this project for some time, but The Hollywood Reporter has just announced who'll be penning the pilot for the series. Oscar winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) and Fringe's Jeff Pinkner will team up to bring the tale of a dead husband communicating with his wife to the small screen. Paramount Television President Amy Powell had this to say:
We are thrilled to collaborate with Akiva and Jeff, two deeply creative and accomplished talents, on the television adaptation of this classic supernatural drama.
This isn't the only spin-off Paramount has in the works. Indeed, they recently kickstarted Paramount TV, a new division aimed at developing known and original properties into television shows. So, expect even more where this came from.
What do you think? Are you excited to see films being made into TV shows? Or has this gone a bit too far?
