Autobots and Decepticons, move aside. You are so old news. Jaegers are where it's at now.
You might be asking yourself, "What the hell is a Jaeger?" I know. It's what I did, too, the first time I read about it. But those who have been following the developments for Pacific Rim, 's epic robots-vs-monsters beatdown, know that they are the giant (and I do mean giant, as you'll see in a minute) robots humankind has built to battle the monstrous sea creatures (or kaiju) that have risen from the ocean floor to wreak havoc and destruction on the human race.
Still think I'm exaggerating the whole "giant" thing? Take a look at the new poster released, featuring Coyote Tango, the Japanese Techno-Tyrant version of the Jaegers:
Will the rest of the Jaegers also get the visual poster treatment? I sure hope so.
Last week, I pointed out that Pacific Rim had the potential to be either amazing or awful, though I was rooting for the former. Well, the results are in and it looks like a win. While the reviews are mixed, this past weekend's test screening had audiences excited.
The movie stars and , along with , , and , no doubt providing the comic relief.
Pacific Rim opens July 12th, in the early part of what is going to be a blockbuster-heavy summer. But still -- I expect this film to crush it at the box office.
