With the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Paramount were able to add one more cash-cow to their money producing herd. G.I. Joe 2 was one of the biggest grossing movies of 2013, ranking 8th domestically and bringing in $40 million on its opening weekend alone. With this in mind, it isn't surprising Paramount has announced G.I. Joe 3.

G.I. Joe 3, which is currently lacking a seemingly obligatory subtitle, will also see the return of as director. According to IndieWire, Chu is confirmed to return as helmsmen, although the studio is currently looking for a new writer.

Although the film was delayed, tweaked and then further delayed for 3D conversion, it still brought in a worldwide swag-bag of $365 million. This certainly isn't bad for a franchise which isn't too well-known outside of the US. Undoubtedly a lot of this success is probably due to the casting of . I wouldn't be surprised if his agent is now receiving some rather flattering phone calls from Paramount head office.
