It looks like us fans aren't the only ones who are a little bit cautious about that Oldboy remake...

While chatting recently about everything from his private life to his cinematic career, revealed recently that Oldboy director explicitly told NOT to remake his South Korean classic. During a Q&A session on Reddit, Lee told a Redditor that before principal photography began on the movie

Brolin went to Park Chan-wook and asked for his blessing. He told Josh 'you and Spike make your own film, don't remake ours.' And that's what we did.

But did they? Did they really make their own movie? From the look of the latest red-band trailer, it certainly seems a LOT like Chan-wook's cult thriller. I'm hoping Lee brings at least a little something fresh to the table for one of the grimmest and greatest movies ever, when his remake arrives in theaters later this year. Still, it seems like Park was less "Don't remake my movie" but more "Do your own thing with it". It certainly sounded that way when Brolin discussed it it last year.

Either way, take a look at these new pics from the flick and let me know how similar you think the remake will be to the original:

Oldboy breaks into theaters on November 27th.
