It seems like there are two types of award shows: the stuffy ones and the embarrassing ones. And there are the truly unfortunate incidents in which the stuffy awards cross over into embarrassing territory. In any event, the 2014 Independent Spirit Awards have just taken a major step to ensuring they are neither stuffy nor embarrassing. Comedian/actor has just signed on to host next year's ceremony. The Indy Spirit Awards will take place the afternoon before the Oscars, which this year means March 1st.

I'll be completely honest, I don't think I've ever watched a full ISA ceremony, but I've seen plenty of clips of some of the more colorful moments. It seems to me that Patton, with his particular brand of irreverent, fame-rejecting comedy, is the perfect host for the show. Plus, he's had staggeringly strong turns in films like Young Adult (2011 Movie) and Big Fan. At the very least, I'd much rather watch the Independent Spirit Awards than the Oscars this year.

What do you guys think?
