We reported a couple of weeks back that Anchorman star was very close to signing to a deal to star in 's highly-anticipated Ant-Man. However, it looks like that deal might now have hit a snag in the form of a big pile of cash, or more precisely, a lack of it.
The guys over at The Daily Superhero are suggesting that Rudd is holding out for more money to appear in the movie, with his agents believing that his starring role in the upcoming Anchorman: The Legend Continues will raise his profile and thus his potential earnings.
To be honest I would label this rumor under "really?." The site don't offer any quotes from insiders and there's been no official word from either party, so I'm not sure how much of this to believe. Rudd is a household name and has starred in a lot of good movies recently, including This is 40 and Prince Avalanche. Will Anchorman 2 really increase his profile, and in turn his salary demands, that much more?
But if there is truth in the claim that it's all about the Benjamins, then Marvel might well turn to the other frontrunner for the role, . But like I said, until I hear something official, I'll take this story with a large grain of salt.
If true, would you pay Rudd what he wants or should Marvel drive a hard bargain?
