Legendary director will head the international jury at the Venice Film Festival, while his film, The Canyons, will screen out of the competition. The film was written by American Psycho screenwriter and stars Lohan, along with porn star , in a story that focuses on the darker side of glamour and Hollywood.

It will be interesting to see how this film does. On top of the fact that it was denied entry into SXSW and Sundance, the film was shot on a crowd-funded micro-budget of $160,000 from Kickstarter. Schrader previously wrote Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and The Last Temptation of Christ. He's definitely a pioneer in the industry and could prove to be a forward thinking director, afraid of the future with projects like this.

The 70th edition of the Venice Film Festival will take place between August 28th and September 7th.
