The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug director has just completed filming for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies - the end of a long, long fantasy era after 14 years of movie making in Wellington since The Lord of the Rings franchise got its big-screen adaptation. Jackson commented on his triumphs:
Ever since starting these blogs there's been something I thought I'd like to try one day (as well as answering the other 19 questions I owe you!) - blogging throughout a shoot day in real time. Try to give you all a feeling for what we deal with on an average day. Today is not exactly "average", given it's our last day of shooting, but if I don't do it today, I never will!
The director also posted pictures of dwarves, crew members and of course 's Bilbo Baggins. The photo updates ended with pictures of Jackson and his muggy, Mr. Smudge. The final photo shows the director and cat cuddling, with the caption: "A long day. A great day. Thank you all for being part of it! Now for some sleep!"
The Desolation of Smaug, Jackson's next cinematic baby and the second in 's Hobbit trilogy, will hit theaters December 13th. I could watch hours of Middle-earth. Silmarillion anyone? Do it Pete!
