Multiple media outlets are reporting that Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment of an apparent drug overdose.
The 46-year-old actor had battled substance abuse for years. Last year, he checked himself into a rehab center for 10 days after relapsing.
Hoffman won an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Truman Capote in 2005's Capote. He also starred in films such as Boogie Nights, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
According to reports, his body was discovered by a friend in his West Village apartment who became concerned after not hearing from Hoffman. He leaves behind his long-time girlfriend, Mimi O'Donnell, and three children.
