There is an unfair negative stigma against direct-to-video movies. In fact, plenty of outstanding movies play the film fest circuit, don't get a theatrical release for some dumb reason or another, and then end up going direct to VOD or DVD. I implore you, do not judge all of these films merely based on their release platform.
That being said, I don't have a lot of faith in the upcoming VOD release Toxin. The poster and release dates for the film have just been released, and we have them here courtesy of JoBlo. The poster is kind of generic, but that's not so damning. Marketing departments are notorious for screwing the pooch when it comes to posters, even for excellent films. It's the trailer for Toxin that has me feeling ill. Is this being released to VOD on April 15th or the SyFy channel? Also, it's in 3D and was never in theaters...so are they just banking on whoever rents it having a 3D television?
Take a look at the poster and the trailer and give us your thoughts. Toxin will also hit DVD on June 10th.
