Most estimates say put around 4-5% of the USA's population as LGBT, so after at least 20 superhero movies in the last ten years alone (or to put it another way, more than fifty individual superheroes), plain old logic dictates that at least two should identify as something other than straight.

Finally this week we learned that the first openly LGBT superhero would arrive on screen — but it's not coming from Marvel (as if!) or DC. Nope, it's the rebooted Power Rangers which is responsible for evening things out, and since the news broke this week that the Yellow Ranger has "girlfriend problems," the good citizens of the internet have been freaking out in the best way possible.

Here's a small, slightly heart-warming round-up of the best responses to the news that is totally LG-beasting it on the diversity front:
