WARNING: If you want to avoid SPOILERS for Season 5 of Orange Is The New Black then you'll want to turn around, get back in your cell and lock the door right now, 'cause this article is rammed with 'em.
The last season of Orange Is The New Black dropped storyline bombs like it was hot — scorching in fact; 13 episodes packed to the brim with backstory, intrigue, drama and crackpipes. We had dissected villains in the vegetable patch, burnt swastikas, time-machines and a bunch of new guards you wanted to beat to death with your bare hands.
Yet the most OMG WTF moment was undoubtably losing one of most beloved characters of the series — not to mention one of the few non-white LGBT characters on TV — to the misguided paw of puppy-dog policer C.O. Bayley. Poussey's death was absolutely tragic, totally unpredictable and the way it was handled within Litchfield State Pen was utterly disgusting — as Tasty summarized in the final episode, she was left on floor "like an old napkin."

Due to that fact then, there are a bunch of serious questions that need answering in Season 5 when it returns to Netflix at some point in 2017.
So far, details of the next season are pretty thin on the ground — the forth premiered on Netflix but a few months ago, after all, so we could be waiting a while — but that hasn't stopped the rumors from circulating. Keep scrolling for everything we've heard about Orange Is The New Black Season 5.
What's The Deal With The Cast?
It's safe to assume that the staples will be back — without Poussey, sob — though nothing is confirmed as of yet. In the meantime, refresh your memory of how the inmates wound up in prison in the first place.
And What About Those Rumors?
You've reached the juicy part! Like I keep saying, there's not a huge amount confirmed for Season 5, but has that ever stopped the rumor mill from turning? No, no it has not! Here's a rundown of the freshest:
1. What Will Happen To Daya?
You'll probably remember that the end of Season 4 left us with one hell of a cliffhanger — Daya (Dascha Polanco) pointing a gun to the face of the terrible, terrible human that was C.O. Thomas Humphrey, the guy that forced Maritza Ramos to chow on a live baby mouse. But did Daya pull the trigger? While I pray to all things holy that she did, rumors seem to rule negative. It seems likely that instead she'll be forced to face the consequences of her actions in Litchfield's Special Housing Unit a.k.a solitary confinement a.k.a actual hell.
2. Is Officer Bennett Coming Back?
Apparently so! C.O. Bennett (Matt McGrory) will apparently be returning after legging it fairly shortly after knocking Daya up. Will he be back to rekindle their love affair and save her from confinement? That sounds a little unrealistic/lame to me, but we'll have to wait and see!
3. Will Poussey Finally Get The Send Off She Deserves?
After being killed off in the penultimate episode, Poussey's body was hardly treated with the respect it deserved — instead, they tried to paint her as a total deviant to cover up the incompetence of the institution, all while her body was still laying cold on the cafeteria floor. Will Season 5 right this wrong? Hopefully, but probably not. This season will assumedly see further struggles with the administration and we've already seen that taking care of her memory is not on the top of their To Do lists. Sad face.
4. Is Piper's Time Up?
If Poussey can be knocked off, no character is safe. In an interview with Pop Sugar, Taylor Schilling hinted that Piper could meet the same fate:
PS: In the last season we do see her spiral into becoming a total gangster with her whole underwear operation. For this next season, I'm honestly a little concerned for Piper. It doesn't look too good for her from what I've seen.
TS: Yeah, this is a tough year for Piper.
Even worse than having a f***ing Nazi symbol burnt on her arm?!
5. What About Bennett And Lolly?
The last we saw of them, Bennett seemed to have left his job and Lolly was being dragged off to Psych. Will they be back? Who knows, but Lori Petty, a.k.a Lolly, voiced an interesting theory and plot twist while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter:
"I certainly hope so. I do think we will. I can't say for sure, but I absolutely think we will. They are just now filming episode one [of season five] and you know how we ended season four. They have a lot to deal with right now! I'm just waiting on the phone call to get back on the plane. I'm sure it will come, but we have 13 episodes and they've got a lot to take care of, so we'll see . . . Here's what I assume — and this is because it's all about me, right? — we go into psych and Mr. Healy was there and I'm screaming and crying. I did some looping and I saw it and it looked great. Then I realize that they built a huge hallway with rooms and a whole set. So I'm thinking it's going to be: Psych! Starring Lori Petty! I just assumed they'd go to psych, like they go to the SHU. But I'm just making stuff up right now because I don't know. But I saw the set and that's what I thought."
Wouldn't that be a bangin' plot device, eh?!
Sadly — well, not so sadly actually — until we know more you'll have to cope with watching re-runs of the show on Netflix. Enjoy!
