(WARNING: This article contains some spoilers for Iron Fist. You've been warned.)

Let the female badassery commence! has already introduced us the high-flying kicks of the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Disney amazed us with the perseverance and determination in the Star Wars female characters of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) grasped power in Game of Thrones using her wits and cunning. But Marvel has done it again with their recent series Iron Fist.

Jessica Henwick plays Colleen Wing, who owns a dojo, wields a sword and smacks people around like rag dolls. Amidst all the controversy in the Netflix series, Colleen Wing stands out as a hero in her own rights.

We are first introduced to Colleen Wing when Danny Rand, the Iron Fist, notices her posting flyers about coming to train in her dojo. Danny Rand decides to visit her to see if she will let him teach kung-fu to help her get more customers. Later on in the story, she allows to stay in her dojo.

Danny watches as one of her students leads a class, but allows the students to misbehave. decides to take action by taking over the class rather abruptly to get their attention. One of the students does not take him seriously, and Danny Rand smacks the student's foot. It is in this interaction when we learn why Colleen Wing is running this dojo. She tells Danny that most of these students are either being bullied by other children or beaten by their parents. Colleen lets Danny know that her dojo is considered a safe place. A place where she can her students are to deal with life and honor. She has no qualms about letting the mighty know her mind without any fear of his skills.

Even though Colleen Wing is struggling to maintain her business, she did not succumb to Ward Meachum's (Tom Pelphrey) attempt to give her money. During the story, Ward soon realizes that Danny Rand has visited Colleen at her dojo. Since Ward and his father, Harold Meachum (David Wenham), are mystified by Danny's return, they want to make sure that he doesn't go public or let others know about his inheritance.

Ward was sent to Colleen's dojo to see if she would keep her mouth shut about the recent appearance of Danny Rand. She was offered a large sum of money in exchange for her silence. Colleen wasn't sure about their proposal because she was concerned about Danny Rand. After getting to know Danny a little more, she opted out of the money and decided to find other ways of supporting her dojo.

1. The Girl Can Fight

You think is the only martial arts master in this show? Think again. Colleen Wing can hold her own against anyone in Iron Fist. There is one scene where Danny and Colleen have a little friendly duel in her dojo. Even though Iron Fist gave her a few pointers, she had no problem going toe-to-toe with the The Living Weapon. However, it was the cage fight scene where we got to see Colleen in action.

After learning about one of her students making money from cage fights, she decided to go and check it out for herself. She even takes a shot at entering the ring. After ring announcer makes a chauvinistic remark, she gives him a zinger that let's him know she means to fight. Enter her opponent, who looked like a giant wall of rock-hard muscle. He towered over her like the Incredible Hulk over The Black Widow in The Avengers. Colleen took a bashing, but he didn't stop her. With her martial arts skills and a little kung-fu technique from Iron Fist, she pummeled her opponent into submission.

From helping troubled teenagers to taking down opponents with her fighting skills, Colleen Wing stands out as Marvel's next female champion. Maybe Jessica Henwick will get her own spin-off Netflix show like Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle) did with his portrayal of The Punisher in the series. At least we can hope to see more of her heroism in the upcoming show later this year on Netflix.

Which other Marvel character do you think Jessica Henwick should play?
