It looks like Valve and Capcom are getting closer than ever before. They've always had zombies in common, but now it looks like Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead 2 will exist in a parallel universe, according to STYD. The project is currently being dubbed Resident Evil x Left 4 Dead 2 and will see exclusive characters from the L4D franchise featured in the PC release of Resident Evil 6. Likewise, enemies from Resident Evil 6 will be featured in the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2.
If you grab a copy of RE6, you'll be able to use Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle in The Mercenaries No Mercy mode. Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman from RE6 will then jump over to L4D2. Here's what Valve and Capcom had to say:
Chet Faliszek from Valve stated: "We're huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it."
Resident Evil 6 Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi added: "The Resident Evil 6 team really enjoyed working on this crossover, and we're confident that our fans will have a great time with it too! We hope you enjoy this unique content."
I'm all for crossovers, especially if it's horror related. I can never get enough of Aliens, Predators, or Terminators jumping from one franchise to another. I especially dug the fighting extravaganza Street Fighter x Tekken. It makes you wonder how closely Valve and Capcom will work together in the future.
