Richard Nixon may not have been America's most popular president, but he's certainly become one of the most recognizable. Sure, this might be because he was almost impeached for his involved in the Watergate Scandal, but I think his frequent film appearances have helped get his image out there too.

Few politicians have been represented on screen as often as Nixon. There was 's Nixon, 's Frost/Nixon and of course a brief, but memorable appearance in Forrest Gump. It doesn't look like it will stop there. has just announced that Tricky Dick will also get a role in his upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past. He told Collider:

Richard Nixon's in it, that'll be an interesting casting choice... There'll also be some more science-fiction-type aspects to the story and, without giving it away, some technology that we haven't seen yet in the X-Men universe.

With The Days of Future Past being partly set in the 1970s, this might not come as a huge surprise. However, it is a strong indication that this latest X-Men movie will also investigate the political issues behind the rise of the mutants. This is something previous X-Men movies have done, and it's actually one of my favorite elements of the franchise. With all this taken into account, it's unsurprising Days of Future Past is one titanic project, as Singer explains:

It's a big movie. It’ll be the biggest movie I've ever made.

Of course, this will not be the first time Nixon has cropped up in a superhero movie. The 37th President also appeared as a fairly prominent character in 's Watchmen. His character wasn't the only thing that was prominent — his prosthetic nose was humongous.
