Now, where many filmmakers have traditionally been fiercely protective of the franchises that they've brought into being (see: Lucas, George), spent several decades seeming to have absolutely no interest in returning to the franchise that both made him a legend and spawned an entire cottage industry of sequels, spin-offs and fitfully excellent video games: . With the imminent arrival of , however — hot off the heels of 2012's , no less — it seems that Scott is very much back in the Alien business.

Indeed, it doesn't seem as though he has any plans to step down from the series anytime soon. Y'see:

Ridley Scott Seems Ready To Make Six More 'Alien Movies' After 'Covenant'

That, at least, is what he recently suggested to the Sydney Morning Herald, revealing in an interview that:

"If you really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six... I'm not going to close it down again. No way."

Which, it seems, is rather good news for anyone hoping to see a whole lot more Xenomorph-themed terror on the big screen in the near future. Not least because, as part of the same interview, Scott also confirmed that:

"You don't want a two-year gap. So I'll be ready to go again next year."

In other words? We may have had to wait 33 years for Scott to follow up 1979's Alien with Prometheus, and a further five to see Alien: Covenant hit theaters, but that doesn't mean we're going to have quite so long a wait for the next installment in the franchise. That's assuming, of course, that the film makes good money.

This is still Hollywood that we're talking about, after all.

What do you think, though? Would you be up for six more Ridley Scott-directed Alien movies after Covenant? Let us know below!
