From Donald Trump vs Hilary Clinton to Britney Spears vs Christina Aguilera, this millennium has bore witness to a number of epic fights between some of the most powerful figures that the world has ever known. However, none of these can compare to the upcoming crossover movie The Ring Vs. The Grudge, which pits horror icons Sadako and Kayako against one another in the freakiest grudge match you'll ever see.
Sadako Vs. Kayako may sound like the product of some particularly hardcore fan fiction, but in reality, this hair-raising mash-up originally started out as an April Fool's joke that quickly went viral. Of course, once people realised that this was genuinely an incredible idea, the positive momentum generated online eventually motivated Kōji Shiraishi to take on writing and directing duties for the ghoulish project.
It's been a long time coming, but the wait is almost over, as the opening scene from Sadako Vs. Kayako has now been officially released online. Anyone else eager to see the two most mean-spirited J-Horror villains finally meet?
Check out the entire opening scene of Sadako Vs. Kayako in the clip below:
Both Sadako and Kayako have also appeared in Hollywood remakes of #TheRing and #TheGrudge respectively, so is there a chance that these two J-Horror icons could battle it out in an English language remake?
If the upcoming #Rings performs well in America, there's a strong possibility that Sadako and Kayako could duke it out once more. However, some kind of deal would have to be negotiated between Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures first, as the two studios currently hold the rights to each of these ghostly franchises. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, those who were grabbed by the opening scene of Sadako Vs. Kayako can exclusively watch the entire film on Shudder, a horror streaming service which currently costs $4.99 per month.
However, if the idea of paying for that scares you more than falling down Sadako's well, then you'll have to wait until The Ring and The Grudge battle it out in cinemas on June 18, 2016 instead. Just don't answer any phone calls once the credits roll. At least not for seven days...
Who should win in a fight between Sadako (The Ring) and Kayako (The Grudge)?
