Robert Pattinson is considering quitting the limelight for good. Friends of the star have spilled that the Twilight hunk is considering exploring the relative solitude behind the camera to escape chaos of the media circus.
The Queen of the Desert star has always been serious about his privacy, and now he seems to have reached a stage in his career where he is ready to make a drastic shift in direction. A 'close friend' of the star has explained to Radar Online that;
He () doesn’t want to be famous anymore. The cost of fame is the thing he and used to complain about all day and that hasn't changed at all for him
Despite his meteoric rise to serious acting credibility with critically acclaimed projects such as Cosmopolis, and with upcoming leading roles in Life and The Childhood of a Leader, the actor is ready for a change. Pattinson's mate spilled that;
He is looking at a whole new approach to his future and is even considering going to theater school to focus more on getting behind the camera. Rob’s been talking to a lot of independent filmmakers, and the last thing he wants to do is act in another blockbuster. He would like to direct a movie one day
I can totally understand Rob's bristling aversion to the prying eyes of the press, especially after Kristen's very public, and humiliating affair with director .
Leaping to the top of the pap's snap list at the tender age of 22 must have been a life-changing and immensely stressful experience. Not to mention the pressure of supporting the fervor of the Twihards passion for his real-life relationship with Kristen Stewart.
Many Twilight fanatics seem to be unable to separate the fictional love of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen from Pattinson's flawed real-life romance with his co-star. Pattinson has not been shy about expressing how uncomfortable this makes him and he was criticised for slagging off his own fans to Interview magazine last year. The star said;
Twilight has its own parallel world, its own fan culture that has been forming on the net since day one — and in an intense way that has never existed before. Sometimes I ask myself what these masses of people do the whole day. They sit in front of their computers and comment on anything having even remotely to do with Twilight
Rob has very publicly shunned blockbusters in favor of more independent films in the wake of his Twilight mega stardom, but curiosity about his relationship with his ex remains at fever pitch.
The source ended their damning assessment of the pressures of fame on Rob by saying that;
Rob really can't stand being famous, even though he loves his job. I’m sure all the hell he went through with Kristen was the final straw for him as far as fame is concerned
Ouch. Poor Rob. I know that being fried under the magnifying glass of the media is practically in the job description for a serious actor, but I do feel that Pattinson has had to deal with it more than most.
He always comes across and a modest and unassuming chap in interviews and Instagram photos show us that he has no qualms about chucking down a few pints in humble London boozers. It's a shame that his relationship with Kristen accelerated him to the top of the media watch list and disrupted his chosen lifestyle, because this just doesn't show any signs of changing.
I still write more about Rob and Kristen than any other celebrity romance because the public interest is so great, and until the next huge celebrity on screen/off screen couple crawls out of the woodwork, maybe retiring is the only way Rob will get any peace.
What are your thoughts on the rumors Rob might retire from the silver screen? Do they seem plausible or is this source just chasing a quick buck? I am normally very dubious of what these so called 'friends' have to say, but the sentiments expressed in this interview ring true for me.
