Note: heavy spoilers for Wonder Woman follow.

You may still be reeling from the range of emotions felt after seeing Wonder Woman, and that's okay, you are not alone. Gal Gadot's portrayal as Diana gave us an empowering film, and it featured other women at the forefront as well. Although the film centers around Diana, the women of Themyscira stole the show during the first act — specifically, Antiope (Robin Wright).

Antiope is the sister of Diana's mother, Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), and became Diana's trainer from a young age. Pushing Diana to her full potential would eventually lead Wonder Woman to become the fierce hero we know and love. During the German invasion on the beach of Themyscira, however, Antiope takes a bullet to save Diana's life. But fear not, that will not be the last we see of her!

It seems her fierce warrior will make an appearance in the next DCEU film, . In an interview with the L.A. Times, Connie Nielsen said, "[Wright and I] got to do more in Justice League as well. As sisters as well. Kind of badass as well. We can't say much, but..." To which Wright added, "And more of the story, you get some of the history."

So how could the bring back Antiope? The fact that Wright mentions "history" could indicate flashbacks to earlier days of Themyscira. The trailer for Justice League also features a battle showing Hippolyta in action, which could also include the presence of Antiope in an era prior to Diana.

An appearance during present day seems unlikely considering the death scene, but this is a comic book movie so it's always a possibility. Antiope's death heavily impacted Diana's decision to leave the island, which was Antiope's goal for her all along. Could Antiope have faked her death, Agent Coulson-style, to give Diana a reason to leave and find her true meaning?

Either way, the praise for Wonder Woman has set the bar pretty high for future DCEU installments, so it should be interesting to see what direction the franchise takes for Justice League. No matter what, the anticipation for the film has grown as fans await to see the next appearance from Wonder Woman and her fellow Amazons.

Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017!
