A beloved Nickelodeon TV show is coming back for a special event, and '90s nostalgia couldn't get any sweeter. Rocko’s Modern Life was a big hit with audiences before the turn of the century, thanks to a distraught turtle named Filbert, a voracious steer named Heffer and an anthropomorphic Australian kangaroo — err, I mean, a wallaby — named Rocko. They were on the air for four seasons, and now they're returning.
Check out the #SDCC2017 trailer for the TV movie Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling:
Rocko's Modern Life creator Jim Murray is once again handling the directing duties, and will bring back the original voice cast of Carlos Alazraqui, Douglas Lawrence, Charlie Adler and #TomKenny, who famously voices Spongebob Sqarepants.
We’re Not In The '90s Anymore
As Rocko declares in this sneak peek, “The twenty-first century is a very dangerous century.” This two-minute clip gives us everything we need to know about what’s going on in his current world. We already knew from the announcement that Filbert and Rocko have returned from an outer space adventure and haven’t been back to Earth in over 20 years. Times have definitely changed.
With different means of transportation, hundreds of smartphone brands, food trucks that sell tacos within tacos, radioactive drinks and realistic 3-D effects, Rocko is clearly overwhelmed by it all and struggling to catch up with society. Hell, even the comic book shop that he used to work at is closed. While Filbert and Heffer seem to be adapting to the twenty-first century just fine, Rocko fears that things will never be the same.
No airdate has been announced for #RockosModernLifeStaticCling, but it will be sometime in 2018.
