Fans everywhere were given the good news about Patrick Wilson joining the DCEU film Aquaman as Ocean Master a.k.a Orm. Well, earlier this week members of JSlab425 took to their Twitter account proclaiming to know information on another casting in the Aquaman movie. This time, the character was said to be Black Manta. Check it out below:
They even went on to explain that the search was for an A-list actor who's either auditioned for the role or had their agents campaigning for them. Through a series of other tweets, they began to tell the history behind #BlackManta and how the comic Aquaman #35 was his first appearance. They even went on to mention the time he removed his helmet, which was in 1977, a decade after his debut appearance.
Why didn't we get an announcement sooner? Well, they made sure to mention the popularity of both characters, Black Manta and #OceanMaster, saying Warner Bros. didn't want to disappoint fans by giving them Manta prior to announcing #PatrickWilson as #Orm. Though this could be true, both character's are likely to set the internet ablaze. I suppose we'll have to see how much of this is true.
This is clearly just a rumor right now, but JSlab425 mentions an actor already signing on to portray the villain, as well as his travel to Australia in the near future. As the tweets continued, they finally mentioned the casting announcement about Black Manta will come in the new year, and to expect it to be worthy of "breaking the internet." If this were to be true, then who's worthy of rattling the internet a bit?
Would Denzel Washington make his way into a comic-adapted film with possible sequels? I'm not sure. See, the character is certainly around #ArthurCurry's age — in this situation, #JasonMomoa's — while Washington is now in his 60s. The Oscar-winning actor is worthy to damage the internet, but is almost unlikely to play a character suited for someone in their 30s to late 40s.
Now, this could work, especially since he's an actor many fans love. Jamie Foxx is better known for his Oscar role as Ray Charles in Ray, as well as his portrayal of Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He has the profile that could shake up the internet and he's 49 years old. Foxx may not be exactly on Denzel Washington's level, but he's still a strong candidate for the of role Black Manta.
I guess we're going there. Yes, if Terrence Howard is cast into the #DCEU, he would be another actor coming from Marvel. He is known as the first James "War Machine" Rhodes from Iron-Man and was once nominated for his role in Hustle & Flow. If Howard were the chosen candidate for the film, it would be a huge announcement coming from Warner Bros. — and let's not forget that he's also in his late 40s.
Michael K. Williams
He is known for The Wire and has numerous other roles that have enhanced his popularity. Williams is 50 years old and has done multiple episodes on the popular hit, Boardwalk Empire and even had a small part in Marvel's The Incredible Hulk.

There's a chance that all of this could be just a rumor, but we should remind ourselves that Black Manta is a huge part of #Aquaman's story. And don't forget that there once was a possible sketching of Black Manta displayed behind Batman's suit from a photo Snyder posted on social media. Maybe we will see Black Manta in Aquaman, which is due to release on October 5, 2018.
What do you think? Are we getting a Black Manta casting announcement in the new year?
