Many people identified with Ryan Gosling as his face crumpled up into a cheeky giggle during the painful Oscars best picture mix up, but surprisingly, his laughter was not a coping strategy for fighting off the insane awkwardness.

The La La Land actor has recently revealed exactly why he was creasing among the panic, and the reason why is so Gosling it hurts:

"I was watching people start to have this panicked reaction in the crowd, and guys were coming on with headsets, and I felt like someone had been hurt. I thought there was some kind of medical situation, and I had this worst-case scenario playing out in my head. And then I just heard, 'Oh, Moonlight won,' and I was so relieved that I started laughing."

So, there you have it, was laughing with sheer relief thanks to his concern for his common man and not bursting into inappropriate school yard giggles like a mere mortal, okay?

Yeah, I'm not sure I believe him either, but at least his reaction didn't show any sign of bad spirits in the face of such an unfortunate event.

How do you think you would have reacted in the Best Picture mix up situation?
