DC is venturing into the risky business of online content with its very own streaming platform. Thankfully, the company has a strong project headlining its new business venture: Titans.

The Teen Titans live-action adaptation will explore the rise of the eponymous superhero team, as a variety of young heroes from different corners of the DC Universe unite to save the world. The show has been coming together quite nicely, with actors already lined up to play Robin, Starfire, Raven, Hawk and Dove, and a director for the pilot in the form of Brad Anderson (Fringe).

To the dismay of fans, there's one character we haven't heard about: Beast Boy. The hero is one of the Teen Titans' most important members, yet we've head pretty much next to nothing about who'll be in charge of bringing him to life. Fortunately, the mystery surrounding the green goofball has come to an end.

We Finally Know Who Will Be Playing Beast Boy

Titans finally found its shape-shifting superhero. According to Deadline, (Big Hero 6, Supah Ninjas, Lab Rats: Elite Force) has been cast as Garfield Logan, a.k.a. the ever-hilarious Beast Boy, thus completing the team's main lineup.

There are very few cases in which we can say that an actor is the perfect choice for a role, but Potter could definitely fit that category. He has Garfield's signature joyful charisma down, and the youthful appearance, so I'm sure he'll do a great job as the shape-shifting superhero.

Curiously, this isn't the first time that Potter has looked for a place in DC's various live-action endeavors. Back in 2016, the actor was heavily campaigning to play the Tim Drake incarnation of Robin in the , and he even created an impressive stunt video as his audition:

HIs efforts to be cast in the part had a great impact around comic book fandoms, and numerous people clamored for him to get the role. Clearly, nothing came out of that, so it's great to see him having found his place in the prolific universe.

Staying Faithful To Beast Boy's Comic Book Origins

When it comes to live-action comic book adaptations, fans have gotten used to expecting changes in the mythology.Surprisingly, it looks like will be an exception to that tradition, because his origin story will be adhering quite closely to the story presented on the printed page. According to the show's description of the character released by Deadline, as a child Garfield contracted a disease (exclusive to the Universe) known as Sakutia during an expedition in Africa.

In order to save his life, Garfield's parents inject him with an experimental serum that gives him green skin, green hair and the ability to physically transform into any animal he wants. In what's sure to be good news for fans of the character, that scary event won't stop Beast Boy from being a total goofball who has tons of fun with his abilities (as anyone with the power to change into a powerful animal would do).

Going by the plot and character details we've gotten in the past few months, Titans is poised to be one of the most faithful superhero adaptations, and the handling of Beast Boy is further proof of that.

I can't tell you how excited I am to see DC embracing Beast Boy's goofball's personality. It would have been easy to make him a more serious individual to give the show a darker approach, but instead, we're getting the funny man who's constantly cracking jokes, even in the most inappropriate situations.

Titans doesn't have a release date yet, but we'll get to see Beast Boy fight alongside the likes of Robin and Starfire sometime in 2018.

What do you think about Ryan Potter's casting as Beast Boy in Titans? Would you have liked to see him as Robin instead? Let me know in the comments!
